Last night, The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) experienced a mechanical failure at the Bruecken pump station. The pump failure resulted in a temporary pressure loss for customers in some eastern areas of the city. Early this morning, the pump was returned to service and water pressure levels are back to normal.
Due to the temporary pressure loss, some customers may observe brown or discolored water. Run your cold water tap for about a few minutes until the water appears clear. PWSA crews are opening hydrants to clear discolored water from the system.
Thank you for your patience and we apologize for the inconvenience. If you are experiencing a water emergency, you can call PWSA 24/7 Dispatch at 412-255-2423.
