Pittsburgh, PA – The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) recently unveiled a new bill design to highlight important account information and to help customers understand how water usage is recorded.
Some of the changes include an easy to read summary of charges, as well as meter readings and water usage showing the total gallons used per month and average gallons used per day. With these improvements, customers have more information about monthly water and wastewater costs and can better track water usage.
To walk customers through the features of the new bill, we created an informative new video that describes the changes. It highlights current charges and water usage, provides information about water meters, and includes helpful tips on detecting a leak using water meter readings. “We believe every customer should be able to easily understand their water and sewer bill. Our new bills were designed with our customers in mind, and more clearly provide the information needed to conserve water and ultimately reduce their costs,” said Executive Director, Will Pickering.
Track Your Water Usage
We also encourage customers to use our online Customer Usage Portal, which is a free tool that tracks real-time water usage and sends alerts when there is a spike in consumption. Setting usage alerts can help customers detect and avoid costly water leaks on their property.

We recognize that many of our customers are facing economic hardships. At the Friday, July 24 Board meeting, PWSA’s Board of Directors continued the suspension on water shutoffs. Although we will not shut-off or terminate water services, we encourage customers to pay their water bill as the balance will continue to accrue.
