Pittsburgh, PA — The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) today announced that Monica Walaan, Esquire, has joined the organization as Chief Legal Officer.

In this role, Ms. Walaan will oversee the legal affairs of PWSA and serve as an advisor to counsel, support, and guide the organization on a comprehensive range of legal and strategic issues. As part of PWSA’s robust focus on environmental compliance and ethics, Monica will also serve as a principle internal resource to help guide PWSA employees in acting with the highest ethical standards.

Prior to joining PWSA, Ms. Walaan was the Vice President of Legal Affairs and Assistant General Counsel for a local municipal authority, where she was responsible for building, directing, and managing the day-to-day legal affairs of the organization. She began her career in private practice, serving as a commercial litigator at an international law firm.

Monica earned her Juris Doctor from the Duquesne University School of Law. While enrolled at Duquesne, she participated in the University’s prestigious and nationally recognized trial advocacy program. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Pittsburgh, where she graduated cum laude. Monica is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
