CEO Briefing: Online customer resources show our commitment to transparency

Serving our communities by providing the most up to date resources from PWSA.
PWSA Chief Executive Officer, Will Pickering

All of us here at PWSA are proud of the strides we’ve taken to improve water quality, protect public health, and model transparency for the communities we serve. It’s our intention to provide you with the best, most current information about your water quality, projects taking place in your neighborhood, public meetings, and much more. In the spirit of transparency, we’ve compiled a list of some of our most popular resources.

Interactive, online budgets. As a publicly owned and operated water utility, customers can have confidence that every dollar we receive is reinvested back into the water services you rely on. Explore how and where we’re prioritizing budget dollars in our easy-to-use, interactive online budget books.

Lead service line map. Using a combination of historical property data, construction records, and results from curb box inspections, this interactive map displays the best available information on the location of lead service lines in our water system. The map also shows where we’ve already replaced lead lines and where we plan to replace lead lines.

Service outages web map. Our improved service outages web map provides customers with greater accuracy and more immediate notification around water service interruptions.

Project web map. Using this interactive map, customers can search for infrastructure projects in their neighborhood.

Board of Directors Meetings. Board meetings are held each month in a hybrid format and are open to the public. If you would like to make a public comment at the Board meeting, please fill out our webform. Recordings of past meetings can be found on YouTube.

A report released last year from the University of Pittsburgh Water Collaboratory and Women for a Healthy Environment validates our commitment to transparency. In that report, which graded Allegheny County water systems on water quality, affordability, and transparency, PWSA received high marks across the board.

We’re always looking for ways to improve. If you have ideas on information that we could make available, please contact me at wpickering@pgh2o.com.
