Our core value of equity takes many forms including environmental justice, affordability, workforce development, and supplier diversity. We strive to deliver quality and affordable water services to every neighborhood in our service area, and to create a workplace that reflects the diversity of our customers.

Partnering with community organizations and non-profits in the water space is vital to achieving our equity goals. Through the Pittsburgh Water Equity Taskforce , convened by the US Water Alliance, a network of organizations, including PWSA, the City of Pittsburgh, UrbanKind, Landforce, Pittsburgh United, Common Unity PGH, Women for a Healthy Environment, University of Pittsburgh, and more, are addressing systemic disparities to ensure all residents benefit from a sustainable, inclusive, and just water future.

In 2021, the Taskforce released An Equitable Water Future: Pittsburgh - a roadmap and set of recommendations and strategies to advance five water equity priorities. Since its release, the report has guided numerous organizational policies with support from our dedicated water equity partners and network of community organizations across Pittsburgh.
