This project, in the Bloomfield neighborhood of the City of Pittsburgh, will replace three water mains on several streets, providing more reliable water service to our customers.
Progress & Status
Crews will begin in June by inspecting all service lines within the project area to determine where lead service lines are located. Crews will then begin install new water main on the following streets, in approximately this order:
- Woolslayer Way
- Mintwood Street/40th Street
- Cabinet Way
- Frisk Street
- Millgate Street
- Friendship Avenue
- Taylor Street
- Ella Street
- Sapling Way
- Liberty Avenue
- Main Street
- Friendship Avenue
Phasing & Utility Coordination Considerations:
- No work to occur on Main Street or Friendship Avenue until Peoples Gas work on Penn Avenue is complete in the area, which will likely be late summer 2025.
- Work on Friendship Avenue will occur during restricted hours to allow for rush hour traffic, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm.
- Crews will work daylight hours on Liberty Avenue, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm, so long as two travel lanes in both directions can be maintained throughout work.
- Construction crews will coordinate with local organizations to maintain pedestrian and car traffic during Little Italy Days, August 14 - 17.
