The new chlorine booster station, Herron Hill Reservoir.
Thanks to the diligence of both our Operations and Environmental Compliance teams, we self-identified that three of our storage tank systems at chlorine booster stations did not meet design standards and/or registration requirements and could be improved upon.
The facilities we identified to work on were at our Herron Hill, Highland Reservoir, and Lanpher Reservoir facilities.
As water conditions may vary throughout the treatment process, chlorine feed tanks are designed to maintain chlorine levels and keep them at an acceptable range.
Upon identification, we entered into a consent decree to make the improvements. To date, we've registered all the storage tanks, installed monitoring systems, and are performing regular reporting to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
Projects and improvements like these continue to advance our mission to support our region by protecting public health and the environment through the delivery of safe and reliable water services with a commitment to future generations.
