Project Updates (12/8 - 12/22):

****NOTE*** - Work will be suspended for the holidays on 12/25/2025 and return after 01/01/2026. No work will be completed on the project during this timeframe.

S. 18th Street

• Started temp binder to grade surface restoration work on S 18th (between Wharton and Sidney)
• Started temp binder to grade surface restoration work on Fox Way (between S 19th and S 18th)
• Completing temp binder to grade restoration on S 18th Street (between Wharton and Sidney) & all of Fox way
• Resume new storm line installation on S 18th (from Sidney to E Carson
• completing new storm line on S 18th (from Sidney to E Carson)

S. 19th Street

• Removing water line cross at intersection of S 18th and Sidney
• Starting new storm line work on Sidney Street following completion of remaining storm line work on S 18th Street

Sidney Street

• Removing water line cross at intersection of S 18th and Sidney
• Starting new storm line work on Sidney Street following completion of remaining storm line work on S 18th Street

Project Details:

This portion of the sewer system is currently “combined,” which means the pipes carry both stormwater and sewage, which can lead to overtaxed pipes during heavy stormwater events. Too much sewer flow during heavy rains can cause basement backups, overland flooding, and polluted waterways in our region. 

As the construction team designates a new sewer just for stormwater, we will connect all properties with splashing downspouts and extend storm laterals to the edge of the roadway for remaining properties. We will also replace any lead service lines found within the project area as part of the American Rescue Act-funded Neighborhood Lead Line Replacement Program.
