DIRECTIONS AND ACCESS

The address for the tour:
900 Freeport Road Pittsburgh, PA 15238.

The plant is located directly across from Waterworks Plaza in Aspinwall.
If you are using Waze, make sure you do not get directed to Blawnox or Brackenridge.

Driving to this part of town can sometimes involve a bit of traffic. Check with your GPS for the quickest routes. If you are approaching from Route 28/Downtown, the entrance to the plant will be on the right. After turning into the plant, you will cross railroad tracks and arrive at the security gate.

BEFORE THE TOUR:

  • Groups: The tour organizer (or teacher) for the group should fill out the Visitor Tour Roster with the names of all adult (and student, if applicable) participants who will be attending. This completed roster will need to be emailed to your Pittsburgh Water point-of-contact with whom your are scheduling your tour at least one week before your tour.
    • (Note: If you don't have all information for each attendee in your group, only names are required and additional info such as emergency contacts can be filled out the day of the tour in person).
  • Every adult participant and guardian of a child under 18 must sign page 2 of the tour waiver. These forms can be brought and presented on the day of the tour in person, or emailed as a single file scanned document ahead of time.
  • Professional groups, such as trade groups or societies, will also need each individual to fill out an NDA.

What To Wear:

  • Close-toed shoes are required. No heels, flip flops, or non-sturdy shoes.
  • Long pants/slacks that do not drag on the ground.
  • Any PPE that Pittsburgh Water provides, which may include high visibility vests, goggles and/or hard hats.
  • Dress for the weather—the tour often includes outdoor segments and visits to areas that are not climate-controlled.
  • No Meta Glasses or any recording devices of any kind are permitted.

When You Arrive:

  • Each adult, or in the case of school groups, a teacher or adult responsible, will need to present an official ID, such as a driver’s license, to the guard, and they will open the gate. The guard will present adults with a visitor badge for the day.
  • The guard will direct you to park either alongside the building or at another location on campus. If your group arrives in a school bus, the guard will direct the bus to park on or off premises, and any additional vehicles to park in a designated area.
  • All visitors will enter through the front door.
  • A Pittsburgh Water staff member will greet the group in the lobby and direct you upstairs to the conference room.
  • No food or drink is permitted to be brought into the building, unless previously approved by Pittsburgh Water staff.

Photo Policy

  • Cell phone usage by tour participants is prohibited during the walking tour through the Plant.
  • Cell phones should be set to silent during the walking tour.
  • Tour participants are not permitted to take photographs or videos during the tour.
  • Photos in common areas are permitted at the discretion of the Pittsburgh Water Tour Guide.
