Pittsburgh, PA – What does it take to produce and distribute high-quality drinking water? This June, water quality experts from the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) demystify the water treatment process and answer your most pressing water quality questions.
The five Water Workshops, beginning on June 4th, aim to build awareness and greater confidence in the quality and safety of the drinking water you rely on every day.
“As protectors of public health, we take pride in delivering high-quality drinking water to the communities we serve,” said PWSA CEO Will Pickering. “We’re excited to host this series of Water Workshops to educate customers about the rigorous monitoring and testing procedures we follow to keep your drinking water safe,” Pickering stated.
When, Where, and What to Expect
Each session is broken down into three segments to allow attendees time to explore and learn with your neighbors.
- Explore – Mingle and grab a bite to eat before our presentation begins. You’ll have time to explore and learn at your own pace. Interact with storyboards describing the water treatment process, the distribution system, and our Water Reliability Plan. Participate in hands-on experiments that replicate essential water quality tests, and taste the difference between tap, kiosk, and bottled water.
- Learn – Frank Sidari, Chief Environmental Compliance and Ethics Officer, will guide you through a brief presentation about PWSA, our service area, and population served. We’ll discuss the vital role of the Allegheny River as our source water, the treatment process, and our commitment to delivering safe drinking water to your home.
- Engage – Got questions? We have answers! Sit down with team members from our Water Treatment Plant, Environmental Compliance and Engineering departments, and representatives from our Cares team. They are ready to answer your questions and provide additional insight about your water services.
To create a more inclusive and engaging atmosphere, we are providing ASL interpretation to translate for those who are hearing impaired and will offer a selection of sandwiches and snacks throughout the workshops. Please let us know of other accommodations you may need when you register.
